A Business Women's Health and Wellness Essentials Guide is Born

Good health is a business tool essential to high performance in the professional world. I founded my company, Youthing Essentials, on the idea that improving wellness improves performance. It is a direct cause-and-effect relationship that I have seen work many times over my career. I have also seen talented people fail because they didn't invest in their health, resulting in a loss of focus and productivity. That is why I am passionate about helping other women benefit from a renewed emphasis on easy, consistent attention to integrated health.

Now, I am happy to announce that I have created a one-stop guide that brings together some of the best information from modern science about clear thinking, multi-tasking, energy, better sleep and better digestion -- all essential ingredients to business success. And I am giving you, my readers, access to this new guide "Invest in Your Health to Accelerate Your Career and Business: A Youthing Essentials Guide for Business Women, " free. Yes, free.

As a nutritionist, I have long studied best practices for maintaining health. When it came time to create this Essential Guide, I researched the most effective options for busy women today and included tips on:

• How to work smarter rather than harder on your health
• How to develop a deep, lasting sense of achievement
• How to make your health a priority
• How an integrated approach in the right combinations can allow you to do more with less
• How to exercise your body to shape up your brain
• How getting enough sleep can help you get more done

I hope this guide will help you take charge of your whole health - mental, fitness, nutrition and skin to improve clarity, focus, performance and well-being. Once you have looked over the guide, please share in the comments section below your own tips for taking care of yourself to get the most out of life. And feel free to sign up for our newsletter so you will be notified as I share more Essential Youthing secrets in the months to come.

Salt Control

Written by Harriet Diamond

salt_lite_diet_blood_pressureSalt-good or bad for your health?

Here we go again about listening to health reports that are advocating “reduce your salt intake”.

Well, I agree with that because daily intake of products laden with salt will cause problems, for example, you will see swelling in your legs and retention of water. Not to mention the effect on stress and blood pressure, it’s a good idea to consider in an integrated wellness program.

Unfortunately, when salt is consumed, sometimes women take medication of water pills

which play havoc with your system and sometimes cause you to feel dizzy and unbalanced. The flip side is that you then have some weight loss because of the water pounds.

But let’s make a change. Buy “lite salt”. A big improvement and it still contains important iodine for your body. I’ve been using it for years. It’s part of my healthy aging strategy.

Once again, if we only use salt in moderation we are fine. And getting used to less salt truly makes no difference in taste after a week of doing it. You will actually prefer the difference.

But again, this is a new habit, and it is one step at a time. Bottom line, be mindful. Pay attention. Think about what you are eating throughout the day.

Popcorn is good food

Written by Harriet Diamond

young-woman-buried-in-popcornChanging to healthy ways-one step at a time.

I love my popcorn treat and started changing how I now make it. .

I’ve always believed popcorn to be a healthy snack and so at the office I had it in the office for employees.

What I like about it, it’s a good source of fiber, low in calories, and let’s face it easy to make (three minutes or less with a microwave, and its all in a big bowl).

But did you ever read the label. What you will see is that it is filled with artificial flavors, sodium and fat. Not good. Another way is needed. And so I changed a habit to a new one.

This Christmas, I purchased an air-pop machine that uses kernels. I add lots of spices to make it tasty, especially garlic, grated parmesan cheese, and Mrs. Dash. As you can tell by this website, I like things easy to use, so I find even using a pot, olive oil and kernels, is too much work. The popper is great and easy to clean too.

With that said, excuse me, it’s munching time so I’m off to make a bowl of popcorn, all for myself.

Some info about health benefits of corn:

1. A good source of many nutrients including thiamin (vitamin B1), pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), folate, dietary fiber, vitamin C, phosphorus and manganese.

2. Excellent for cardiovascular health, and its contribution to heart health lies not just in its fiber, but in the significant amounts of folate, a B vitamin good for important metabolic processes in the body.

Our wondrous Peacock felt comfortable enough at our house to let us take this magnificent picture to share with you today.

I love when this Peacock visits and spends some time at my office door.

Did you ever hear the voice of a Peacock? It sounds unbelievable, like a person screaming. I will make an audio so you can hear it too.

But let’s talk about the symbolism of the Peacock.

1. The Peacock is a symbol of immortality

2. Peacocks symbolize openness and acceptance.

3. They have feathers with a design that looks like “eyes”. You can see it in the picture.

4. I researched and learned the Peacock is the national bird of India. How wonderful is that? It’s known for beauty, grace, prosperity, royalty, love, compassion, soul and peace. Wow.

Cancer research and links to fruits and vegetables in diet

Finally, we have a study that admits changing times and new analysis, protective effect of fruits and vegetables is much smaller than had been believed 10 years ago.

But here’s the important part for me at Youthing Essentials. It definitely takes an integrated approach and that’s why we believe in all our essentials,

Thank you to Walter Willett at Harvard School of Public Health's who wrote an editorial accompanying the study, noted in an e-mail to ScientificAmerican.com. “People who eat more fresh fruits and vegetables are also more likely to make other healthful lifestyle choices, such as exercising more and drinking and smoking less, which the researchers noted "may have contributed to a lower cancer risk" overall.”

Enjoy the read and learn more.

sun_burn_summerHealthy skin, freckles and summer sun

Why do we always go to extremes? Now Doctors prescribe Vitamin D because of the possibility of getting skin cancer. But, being outdoors is good and having sun is fine if we just keep everything in moderation.

Personally, I never wanted to continue to freckle, and being a redhead, I have fair skin, so for me sun bathing meant burning my skin and then getting more freckles. Of course I always joked that I would then have a tan all year long. Well, that wasn’t true, and never did that happen. Freckles are freckles and you need to just love them or find your mate that loves them. At least I had to learn to do that. But regardless of all my prevention of sun tanning, I actually did get melanoma on my leg. Interestingly enough, my dermatologist said it was just a freckle. But a few years later, I just didn’t believe that and went again and this time he apologized and I needed to have it removed.

Here’s a good article on melanoma. I do want to emphasize this paragraph so I’m using it again.

“Melanoma is preventable. Burning is a clear sign that UV rays have damaged the DNA in your skin cells increasing skin cancer & makes skin look older. People with fair skin, freckles and lots of moles should take extra care in the sun. But everyone should avoid the temptation to redden or burn in order to get a tan." Summer is coming.
