Great article this morning in the NY Times - "Brain Is a Co-Conspirator in a Vicious Stress Loop" This article discuss recent research into the stress brain feedback loop and indicates the need to break the loop that feeds on itself and may cause seriuos issues with youthing. Good point Mark - I would add that 'stress' is also critical to learning - stress = change. So a certain amount of stress is needed for any new activity. I think the killer is 'anxiety' and worry. To misquote Gordon Gecko - Stress is good!

An interesting article but not a surprise. Trying new behaviors takes tremendous energy and stress robs the brain of energy. No wonder a brain under stress gets caught in a rut. It does not have the energy to change its way out.
